The National History Project

Since I've been fiddling with web design for entire months, Professor Mohamad Tavakoli recommended that I do some work for Professors Lawrence McBride and Frederick Drake on their grant for the National History Project as a web designer.  It was a real pleasure to work with them, especially Prof. Drake, who was the professor for my last history education class before finishing my bachelors.

I was honored to be given so much trust and freedom to create the website and make it look good.  It was a stressful, but positive, experience, knowing that I was developing my web design skills, while helping my professors make their contribution to how American history is taught.  The summer assistantship stipend was also nice to receive.

After I finished the design of the website, most of my time was spent putting together and editing the work of the participants of the workshop into on-line research report kits.  I can't believe how much editing there was to do!   It just goes to show that just because one is a teacher does not mean that one will not turn in work like a student again.  I'm really happy with how everything turned out, however.  Everyone else was also pleased.  At the end of the workshop, Profs. McBride and Drake and all the teacher/scholars showed their thanks by presenting me with a copy of Greatness by Dean Keith Simonton, which they all signed.

It's proving to be a productive summer.
